Mario V. Andres was born in San Mateo, Isabela in 1948. He earned both his undergraduate (Political Science) and law degrees from the University of the Philippines, Diliman. Mr. Andres was admitted to the bar in 1972 and joined the firm in 1975. He is a General Partner in Siguion Reyna Montecillo Ongsiako.
Mr. Andres' practice as head of litigation is concentrated in the areas of civil, criminal, administrative and arbitration litigation. Currently, he is involved in the cases relating to the NAIA 3 project where the office's client is Fraport. He is also involved in the numerous cases of Stradcom Corp relating to the control of the corporation. He is team leader in numerous cases involving clients Nestle and Hongkong Bank, and in the recent Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) – Banco Filipino cases. He is also into airline practice representing several major airlines.
Mr. Andres is currently a Commissioner of the IBP's Commission on Bar Discipline. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of The Philippine Archers' National Network and Alliance (PANNA), the POC – recognized organization of archers in the country. He was Journal Editor and Minutes Secretary at the 1971 Constitutional Convention; a Legal Officer of the Metro Manila Councilors' Assembly (MMCA) from 1973 to 1974; and a Trial Attorney in the Office of the Solicitor General from 1974 to 1975.
Mr. Andres is married to Maria Theresa R. Andres. They have two children – Juan Ishmael, a 3rd year Architecture student at the University of Santo Tomas, and Anna Patricia, a businesswoman and pastry chef. Mr. Andres' choice of sport is archery.
