Scott is a partner with Spencer Fane and serves as chair of the firm's creditors' and debtors' remedies group. His practice concentrates in the areas of pre-bankruptcy planning, workouts, bankruptcy and reorganization for individuals and businesses, and representation of secured and unsecured creditors in workouts, bankruptcies, and commercial litigation, foreclosures, repossessions, and secured transactions. He was recently chosen as one of The Best Lawyers in America 2003-2004, Bankruptcy and Creditor-Debtor Rights Law section.
Scott received his bachelor's degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting in 1977 and his law degree in 1980 from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He served as Note and Comment Editor of the Missouri Law Review and was a member of Beta Alpha Psi. Scott is a member of the American Bar Association's Subcommittees on Secured Transactions, Chapter 11, Claims, Priorities and Exemptions. Scott is a frequent lecturer and has published numerous articles on creditors' and debtors' rights issues.
