Elsa is a founding partner of Espanha e Associados, where she coordinates the Tax Law team and is a Tax Arbitrator at CAAD – Centro de Arbitragem Administrativa.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
She was an associate lawyer at Capitão, Espanha, Rodrigues Bastos, Areia e Associados – Sociedade de Advogados, between 2002 and 2004 in the tax law department and between 2000 and 2002 at Capitão, Espanha, Goes, Miguel, Rodrigues Bastos e Associados – Sociedade de Advogados .
THE PRACTICE AREAS
As part of her activity, she has been coordinating teams dedicated to monitoring clients in international investment operations, as well as restructuring groups of national and international companies, in mergers, acquisitions and spin-offs, including managing tax audit teams.
She also provides advice on indirect taxes, namely VAT, Stamp Duty, as well as on property taxes in real estate transactions.
In addition, she has dedicated herself to the area of tax litigation, through support in court, judicial and arbitration proceedings, with a very varied range of substantive issues.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
She completed her degree in 1997 (Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon), a postgraduate degree in Taxation in 2001 (ISG – Instituto Superior de Gestão), postgraduate degree in Advanced Taxation, from IDEFF – Institute of Economic, Financial and Tax, from the Faculty of Law of Lisbon in 2008, as well as a Postgraduate degree in Corporate Law, from the Faculty of Law of the Catholic University in 2007.
In 2002, she completed the Practical Accounting and Balance Sheet Analysis Course, taught by the Instituto Empresarial de Contabilidade e Economia. Over the years she has attended various training courses in different areas of Tax Law, Social Security Law and accounting.
