Lauren B. McKnight
Lauren advises clients on general business operations, best practices, ethics and compliance matters, contracts, risk management, real estate, and employment matters. She routinely represents start-ups, non-profits, small business owners and multi-million dollar private and publicly traded companies. She also serves as the “outside” general counsel for several privately held companies with business lines in energy, trucking, transportation, construction, oil and gas, manufacturing, and real estate development.
Lauren routinely counsels business owners on business formation (choice of entity), corporate governance, corporate compliance, mergers and acquisitions, managing due diligence, drafting and negotiating buy-sell agreements, operating agreements, management contracts, asset purchases, software and technology licenses, supplier and vendor contracts, master service agreements, confidentiality and nondisclosure agreements, employment contracts and commercial leases. She also works with clients to develop long term strategic plans and transition or corporate succession plans.
In addition to corporate matters, Ms. McKnight has a thriving commercial litigation practice that includes counseling clients to devise a comprehensive strategy to reduce risk and avoid litigation. This includes performing risk assessments, developing corporate compliance plans, and providing training for employees and vendors. Lauren has tried cases to verdict in arbitration proceedings, as well as state and federal court. She has also advocated for clients at the appellate level in state and federal court.
Lauren previously served as the General Counsel for JC Fodale Energy Services, and Senior Counsel at FFC Capital Advisors. Because a balanced attorney does more than practice law, Ms. McKnight dedicates a significant amount of time to community involvement and volunteer activities. She volunteers at local schools, assists at several shelters for victims of domestic violence, mentors high school students and recent graduates interested in the legal profession, raises funds for various non-profits and serves as a resource promoting diversity in the legal profession and business community.
