Tomczyk, Michael
Michael has a deep understanding of debt financing transactions with experience representing both lenders and borrowers. He brings his extensive knowledge of the latest commercial and legal trends in the lending market to a variety of financing transactions.
Michael’s practice focuses on a wide range of debt financing matters, including senior secured and unsecured term loans and working capital revolvers, second lien, subordinated and mezz financings, acquisition and project financings and in-court and out-of-court restructurings. Michael has led multiple secured and unsecured debt transactions as counsel for both lenders and borrowers and he regularly advises clients generally on aligning the various components of a company’s capital stack to give them a more efficient capital structure.
Michael also has experience negotiating and drafting documents for syndicated bank deals and secured bond indentures and has extensive experience managing cross-border financings involving multiple jurisdictions.
Michael was an editor for the Columbia Journal of European Law. In his free time, he has participated in firm-wide pro bono, recruiting and mentoring initiatives. Prior to joining BFKN, Michael was a corporate associate at the Chicago offices of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP where he focused his practice on representing lenders and borrowers in leveraged finance transactions.
