Biography
Simeon has 25 years of experience as a trial attorney. He has litigated a broad range of cases on behalf of corporate clients. He practices in our New Orleans office.
Simeon represents insurance companies in matters that involve property and casualty insurance coverage litigation. He has been counsel for insurers in significant cases arising out of Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Gustav, and Ike. These cases have involved losses to commercial and residential properties. Simeon successfully tried cases in both federal and state courts and was part of the defense team of a multi-million dollar case tried to verdict in the federal court in New Orleans. His insurance law experience includes insurance defense; life, accident and disability insurance; asbestos; personal injury defense; and health-care administration.
In addition, Simeon also has significant experience representing insurance companies in environmental coverage litigation including asbestos and silica litigation. He also represents clients in intellectual property matters, employment law, trucking and transportation law, and ERISA matters.
He is member of the panel of neutrals with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), wherein he serves as an arbitrator and has rendered numerous decisions involving securities disputes.
Simeon began his legal career as an in-house attorney in the Travelers Insurance Company’s corporate legal department handling insurance litigation in areas including ERISA/employee benefits, property casualty insurance coverage, life, accident and health insurance, risk management, annuities, and securities. That experience provided him the foundation to become a skilled trial attorney.
Simeon is native of New Orleans, Louisiana, earning his Juris Doctor from Loyola School of Law in 1989. He graduated from the University of New Orleans in 1984 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
He is a member of the Defense Research Institute; Louisiana, Connecticut, and Texas State Bars; National Bar Association; New Orleans Bar Association; and American Inns of Court.
