Bernardo has a Law Degree from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, and a Master of Laws degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He was joined the firm in 1994, and became partner in 2003. During 2000-2001, he worked at Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett, New York office.
His experience includes project finance and infrastructure, structured finance, mergers and acquisitions, securities law and foreign investment. Bernardo has represented clients in structuring and financing of renewable energy projects, toll roads and other infrastructure projects; has taken part in the process of acquisition by foreign investors of key Mexican companies; and has participated in the debt restructuring of large construction companies and steel manufacturers, including the issuance and exchange of securities with Mexican and foreign investors.
