Alan A. Lips became a partner at Gerson Preston in 2002 after distinguishing himself as an aggressive and knowledgeable tax and audit consultant for the firm’s local and international clients. Mr. Lips, who joined the firm in 1995, concentrates his practice on international tax and estate planning, real estate, construction, manufacturing and business consulting. He serves clients on a full range of matters, including corporate and investment structuring and planning for both inbound and outbound transactions, pre-immigration tax planning, U.S. income and estate tax planning and compliance and financial reporting.
Mr. Lips works with clients from all over the world including South Americans, Europeans and many others seeking to acquire businesses as well as residential and commercial real estate throughout the U.S.
Mr. Lips received a bachelor’s degree in accounting with honors from the University of Georgia in 1993 and a master’s degree in taxation cum laude from Florida International University in 1998. His professional career began with a national accounting firm in Atlanta where he focused on auditing and tax planning for manufacturing and wholesale clients. Mr. Lips is a member of the American and Florida Institutes of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Active in the community, Mr. Lips has served on the board of multiple organizations including the Board of Trustees for Mount Sinai Medical Center, Young Founders, Young Presidents, Miami Beach Development Advisory Board, Miami Beach Budget Advisory Committee, City of Aventura Police Pension Trustee, Florida Chapter of American Men’s ORT, Anti-Defamation League, Jewish National Fund and the Aventura Marketing Council. He currently serves as Chairman of the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce where he has been an active executive Board of Governor for the past eight years. He and his wife, Lisa, have three children.
